Baldwin Legal Investigations (B.L.I.) services were first engaged in June of 2013 at the request of Attorneys R. Nix and D. Steele Jr. Since that time, investigators at B.L.I. have conducted a thorough case file review, located and conducted scores of witness interviews and completed numerous comprehensive backgrounds on additional potential witnesses. At this time, Barry Smith remains incarcerated awaiting trial. The trial is expected to begin November 3, 2014. There still remains a lot of pretrial work to be done on the part of the defense team. We will continue to keep you posted as this case continues to develop.
